What’s Your “WOTY”?

We made it to 2023! First off, thank you to those of you who have been reading each and every post here; We’re gearing up to offer some pretty sweet stuff this year. We have been kicking the can down the road a bit on the podcasting stuff, as it just has not seemed like the right time to focus on it, as we are working on further growth and perfecting our backend systems. We both agree that if we’re going to put something out into the public eye (or ear, for this matter), then we want to make sure that we’re showcasing and marketing only the opportunities that we have vetted or completed, and that we feel comfortable talking about each topic to growth your health and wealth. See, a goal of ours in 2023 is to share, share, and share some more. We’re sure that some folks will feel that we’re “oversharing”, (LOL), but that’s okay; we are not for everyone. So here it goes!

We are “word of the year” people…take it or leave it. This is something that we’ve only started doing for the last 3 years, and we have seen an exciting shift in ourselves, our goals, and most importantly, our accomplishments. Sure, things change, and maybe we don’t live by our “word” all 365 days of the year; but we certainly remember that word and we stash it in the back of our minds to help guide us through the year. Last year, Bret’s word was “Consistent”; Consistently making the effort to be more consistent in all aspects of life; family, nutrition, exercise, work, life, fun, finances, faith, and friends. That’s a lot to be consistent with all year long, so as it goes, there are seasons in life, and we usually focus on a few of these topics in each season, while some of the others lag behind due to disinterest, burnout, etc, etc. That is OK! With the focus of remembering your word, you can still have a major impact on your life over 365 days of being more consistent than you were the year prior.

Danielle’s word of the year last year was “Refine”; as she had grown her real estate business to a very comfortable range and was looking for some additional organization on her backend systems, so she would feel comfortable with growing her business further. As life happened, her word should have changed back to “Growth” for the second year in a row, as she was approached by a few agents who were really wanting to be coached by her and join her team due to the massive success that she has had, all while having a smile on and having a great time doing it. We discussed what this could be, and agreed that we should continue to grow the business, but dive into each team member and make sure that they feel supported.

We are learning that we need to do what we are best at, and find others who are good at what we are not interested in or feel value in putting time into. This is why we adjusted and are now hiring out the refining process of the backend systems and metrics for Danielle’s business, so she can continue to focus on being the best realtor for her clients, and the best leader for The Gillespie Group. This seems to be something that can be extrapolated to other avenues as well, in the sense of real estate investing partnerships/syndications and wealth building. Find someone(s) that are best at what you find little interest in, and “fill the holes” that you have in your own investing journey, and maybe you’ll find that you can assist others in their journey’s as well. We are better together than we are apart, and the most amazing outcome would be success for us all.

We will share our words for 2023 in another blog post, however, we urge you to sit down with your spouse, partner, friend who sent you to us, etc; and come up with your “word of the year”, write it down (multiple times), and then build 3-5 goals for the year off of it. YOU WILL NOT REGRET DOING THIS!

Looking forward to hearing what everyone’s “word of the year” is! Reach out and share it!

In Sickness & In Wealth,

Dr. Bret & Danielle Gillespie
